Booking, kit and payment
How much does a CBT cost?
A CBT with Betta Biker in Warrington costs £225 with the bike and kit supplied (helmet, jacket, over-trousers, gloves and hi-vis), or £180 on your own bike. If you book it with a DAS course, the CBT costs £125. If you need more time to finish, CBT completion (up to 5 more hours) is £160.
What is the difference between the 4-day and 5-day DAS course?
The 5-day DAS course suits beginners. The 4-day course suits riders with some on-road experience. Both include Module 1 and Module 2 test fees, bike hire and riding kit, including boots if you need them.
How old do I need to be to do a CBT?
You can do a CBT at 16 to ride a moped up to 50cc, or at 17 to ride a motorcycle or scooter up to 125cc.
Do I need a theory test before CBT?
No. You do not need a theory test for CBT. You do need to pass the motorcycle theory and hazard perception test before taking Module 1 of your full licence test.
What do I need to bring to my CBT?
Bring your provisional driving licence and a DVLA licence check code (from gov.uk/view-driving-licence), plus glasses or contacts if you need them to read a number plate at 20.5 metres. Wear sturdy over-the-ankle boots, jeans or motorcycle trousers and warm layers. The bike, helmet, jacket, over-trousers, gloves, hi-vis and even boots are supplied if you do not have your own.
Can I use my own bike for training?
Yes. You can train on your own road-legal bike for CBT, with L plates and proof of tax, insurance and MOT. Unless you are renewing a valid CBT, it will need to be delivered and collected. For ERS and bespoke training you can ride your own bike or hire one of ours.
Do you train in winter and in the rain?
Yes. We train all year round, and waterproof over-trousers are part of the kit we supply for CBT. If snow, ice, high winds or heavy rain make it unsafe, your trainer may stop or postpone the session, and we will rebook you at no extra cost.
How do I book a course?
CBT can be booked online, where you can see live dates. DAS, ERS and bespoke training are booked directly with Nic, so he can match the course to you: call, text or WhatsApp 07539 828073, or email [email protected].
What is your cancellation policy?
We need at least 5 working days notice to cancel or change a course. With that notice we can move your training to another date, or refund your fees less an admin fee of £20 for CBT or £50 for full licence courses. Without that notice no refund is given. Training must be completed within 6 months of purchase. See our terms and conditions for full details.
How can I pay?
You can pay by card, bank transfer or cash.
Where are you based?
Our training site is at Safety House, Kerfoot Street, Warrington, WA2 8NU, just north of Warrington town centre. Trainee parking is available.
Which areas do you cover?

About the courses
How long does a CBT take?
A CBT with Betta Biker is at least one full day. There is no pass or fail; you finish when your trainer is happy you are safe to ride on your own. If you need more time, CBT completion (up to 5 more hours) is £160.
Do I need my own bike or kit for CBT?
No. A bike and riding kit (helmet, CE armoured jacket, waterproof over-trousers, gloves, hi-vis and boots if you need them) are supplied. You can also train on your own road-legal bike: it needs L plates, and you must show its tax, insurance and MOT. Unless you are renewing a valid CBT, you will need to have it delivered and collected.
How long is a CBT certificate valid?
A CBT certificate is valid for 2 years. You need to pass your full motorcycle test or retake CBT before it expires to keep riding.
How much does a DAS course cost?
The 5-day DAS course is £1,350 and the 4-day course is £1,200, including Module 1 and Module 2 test fees, bike hire and riding kit (including boots if you need them). You can also pay in instalments: £375 deposit plus 3 payments of £375 (£1,500) for the 5-day course, or £351 deposit plus 3 payments of £333 (£1,350) for the 4-day course.
What does a module re-test cost?
A Module 1 re-test with a 2-hour refresher, test escort and test fee is £250, or £115 for the escort and test fee only. A Module 2 re-test with a 2-hour refresher is £315, or £200 for the escort and test fee only.
Which licence can I get: A1, A2 or A?
It depends on your age. A1 (up to 125cc) is from 17, A2 (up to 35kW) is from 19, and the full A licence is from 24 through direct access, or from 21 if you have held an A2 licence for 2 years.
Do I need to pass my theory test first?
Yes. You need a valid motorcycle theory and hazard perception test pass before you can take Module 1. Book it on GOV.UK. The exception is progressive access: if you have held an A2 licence for 2 years, you can go straight to the practical tests for a full A licence.
Who is the Enhanced Rider Scheme for?
ERS is for riders with a full motorcycle licence who want to improve their skills and confidence, whether newly qualified or returning to riding.
Does ERS reduce my insurance?
Some insurers offer a discount to riders with a DVSA Enhanced Rider Scheme certificate. Check with your insurer.
I have not ridden for years. Can you help?
Yes. Born-again bikers are exactly who our bespoke post-test training is for. Nic will build a session around getting you comfortable and confident again.
